GROUPS 1-6 FOR FANTASY RACING Races 4-18 ARE LISTED
GROUPS 1-6 FOR FANTASY RACING Races 19-36, TBA in July 2003
Groups will be posted on the website.
Changes to groups, notes:
The following underlined info below concerns evaluation of the groups:
First Half: At a minimum, the league will re-evaluate the Groups after Race 4. This does not mean
that changes will be made, but they may be made if deemed appropriate.
Second Half: The league will evaluate the groups after race 16. The Groups for the second half will
be posted by the start of race 17. The league agrees that after the completion of the 28
th race, the groups will be locked and no changes will be made.
In an effort to give everyone enough time to digest the changes, and then to provide your picks for
any groups in which you are affected, the league will get the changes out to you in a timely manner.
If you have a driver that has been moved out of a group, you will be allowed to use a League allowed
free trade to replace that driver in the group they were moved out of.
For the most point, the groups for the second half will be assembled according the Driver point
standings as of Race 16. The first half groups were assembled using many factors including point
standings from the previous year, rookies, single car teams, drivers with new teams etc.
The League reserves the right to change the list of groups if one or more groups become
noncompetitive, or if we deem it appropriate in the best interest of the league. If this occurs the
League Allowed Free Trades will be available to all for the drafts. Please refer to the definition of
League Allowed Free Trade under the trades Section for more information on this.
Points
The league is based on driver points, not car/owner points. Each team receives points based on how
their selected drivers finish for that race.
Driver points are identical to the Official NASCAR points; these become official normally on
Monday following Winston Cup races. Your points will be the sum of the points awarded to each of
your selected drivers. If you trade drivers, you do not pick up previously earned points from that
driver. Only the points earned while a driver is on your roster will count towards your championship
total.
If your driver fails to qualify for the race, then you get zero points for that driver for that race.
The bottom line is you get the driver’ s points for that race, if they do not race for any reason and
the driver is on your team, you get zero for that race. That’ s Racing! We score it how NASCAR
does. This year there are no injury trade or silly season scenarios. If your driver does not race for
any reason you get zero points for that race.
Note, from time to time NASCAR takes points away from Drivers/Owners for violations of
NASCAR rules, if this occurs during the season and you have a driver who looses points, your points
will be adjusted accordingly. For example, Lets say NASCAR penalized Mayfield and his team for
violations at the Daytona Race. If you did have Mayfield as one of your drivers for Daytona then
you would have lost the points that NASCAR took away for him for that race. Lets say you do not
have Mayfield for Daytona. A couple of weeks later you trade for him. You do not get penalized in
this scenario, because you did not have Mayfield for the race he cheated and was penalized for,
even though the penalties do not come down until 6 weeks later, when you traded for him. You only
collect points or will be penalized points for the drivers you have for that race, if you trade for
another driver, you do not get his points from previous races, you get the points for the races you
have him for. THAT’ S RACING! This did occur in 2000, Mayfield’ s team was determined to have
used an illegal fuel additive. Mayfield and the Owner of the car lost the points they generated for
winning the race. This is one thing that ultimately squashed any chance of him finishing in the top
10; fortunately, no one in our league had him so we did not have to penalize anyone.
Trades
(Trading is open at the completion of race 1, see initial draft rules)There are three types of trades.
1. Fifteen (15) allotted trades for groups 1-6 for races 1-18.
2. Fifteen (15) allotted trades for groups 1-6 for races 19-36.
3. Free trades every week in Group 7
4. League allowed free trades (in the event groups are changed during the season).
These are explained in more detail below.
15 allotted trades for groups 1-6 for races 1-18: These will be included for the first half of
the season for groups 1-6. Any unused trades are forfeited at the completion of race 18. All trades
must be e-mailed and /received before 10 AM EST. on the original scheduled day of qualifying.
15 allotted trades for groups 1-6 for races 19-36: These will be included for the second half of
the season for groups 1-6. Any unused trades are forfeited at the completion of race 36. All trades
must be e-mailed and /received before 10 AM EST. on the original scheduled day of qualifying.
Free Trades in Group 7 are allowed every week during the entire season. There are at least 14 drivers to
pick from every week in this group. They are not listed to insure that one has to do some research to make
change a driver from week to week if one chooses. This trade as well as the others must be e mailed by
10 AM. est. on the original scheduled day of qualifying.
League allowed free trades: We will reserve the right to change the list of groups if one or more
groups become noncompetitive, or if we deem it appropriate in the best interest of the league. If
this occurs, the League will forward E-mail to all teams of the changes, and also will post the
information on the Website on the Monday Prior to the next race. This will allow all teams
several days to take appropriate action. These types of trades are free and will not count against
your allotted trades. If you fail to use your league allowed free trade prior to the original
scheduled day of qualifying after the league changes the groups you will receive zero for that race
and for all races after until such time you use one of your allotted trades. This means that if you
miss the window of opportunity to use a league allowed free trade you loose it and will have to use
an allotted trade to get another driver. All trades must be e-mailed and /received before 10 AM
EST. on the original scheduled day of qualifying.
Attempted qualifying: This means the driver ran in the qualifying round for that race. In the event
that qualifying is rained out for a race, a driver is considered as having attempted qualifying as long
as they were officially entered for the race with NASCAR as posted on their Website. NASCAR
determines the starting lineup for a race with a rained out qualifying round by using several factors.
These factors determine who starts on Sunday and where, mostly driven by points generated by
that car, (owners points) along with some other factors for provisionals. I cannot begin to explain
those fully.
Original scheduled day of qualifying: This is the day originally set for qualifying on the NASCAR
Website. If Qualifying is delayed for whatever reason the trading deadline is still the on the
original day qualifying was scheduled by NASCAR. In the strange and bizarre event that NASCAR
changes the original scheduled day of qualifying by moving it any day before it was originally
scheduled then that day will be the trading deadline.
Declaration of Trade: All trades must be E-mailed to Fantasyracing1@aol.com and must include
the team name, the group and names of the drivers you are trading away and trading for. No
Instant messages, no E-mail to Merse, they must come to Chris.
TRADING DEADLINE: Any trades not made/received by 10 AM EST. on the original scheduled day
of qualifying will not be counted.
Team standings, stats, trades etc.
We will have the following links:
Starting Line-ups, trades made, race results, league standings, most points by race: This page will
have a link for the results of all 32 races. For each race the teams will be listed by name and their
drivers for that race will be listed. Included will be the race results, league standings to date and
trades made for that race. TRADES will be listed under the heading of "Weekly Transaction Log".
When you trade a driver and select another it will show up as Dropped to Free Agency and Acquired
from Free Agency. This is how the software lists it. All it means is you made a trade. For example,
last year I made a trade prior to the last race, this is the way the software shows it. Disregard the
debit column; we do not use salaries in this league.

Unless otherwise noted all trades are assumed to be allotted trades. If league allowed free trades
are used then that will be noted. The groups the drivers are in are listed in these rules, and they
will not be indicated next to the teams selected drivers or next to any trades teams make, if you
are unsure what group a driver is in please refer to the rules.
Trades Left: This page will have the stats on most points by race, rank of most points by race, and
trades used to date by each team.
Rules 2003: The 2003 22fastforward.com Fantasy League Rules will be on this page.
Race results will be posted on the website once NASCAR posts the official race results, and as soon
as the software maker posts the information for download. From time to time we may post
unofficial results prior to posting official but only when time permits it.
Correspondence with the Commissioner
All correspondence with the Commissioner will be handled via E-mail, Merse This
includes trades, questions, disputes etc.
Disputes
If you have a dispute for any reason you may E-mail the Commissioner
first with the facts andinformation surrounding that dispute.
The Commissioner will review the information and make a decision.
In the event of a dispute between a Team and the Commissioner that cannot be resolved, the
remaining Teams in the League will be allowed to vote on the issue and the winning vote becomes the
decision and will be final on the matter.
The Teams will be presented with the dispute, and the options, these Teams will have 5 days to E-mail
their vote to the Commissioner. Abstaining from voting does not count in favor of either Team.
The tally along with the Team name and how each Team voted will be posted at 22fastforward.com.
The Commissioner and the Team in dispute cannot vote on their own behalf.

ten finishes, if there is still a tie we will flip a coin. The league reserves the right to make
changes to this, in the rare chance that this occurs be assured it will reflect in a positive
manner.
Frequently asked Questions:
1. Can I join the league after the first race is already run?
Yes, but you will receive zero points for any races missed.
2. Will I get my prize if I am one of the winners?
Yes.
3. How do I know that the points are accurate as posted for my Team?
The points are downloaded from the Internet each week from the software maker. This will be the
Fourth year using this software and they have been on the money all the time, as far as official
results were concerned. I will check them again this year for accuracy. You may also check your
numbers for yourself each week at NASCAR.COM. If you find a discrepancy please notify the
Commissioner immediately. They are and will be accurate.
4. Do I have to be a Ward Burton Fan in order to join the Fantasy League?
Obviously this is a Website dedicated to Ward Burton, but you do not have to be a fan of his to join
the league, it wouldn’ t hurt mind you, but it is not a requirement.
Note from the Commissioner
Last year was a pretty good year after overhauling the payouts. Having the two halves got people back
into it. You win a half you get your money back at the least.
Participation in the league once you have
made your initial draft is up to you. Participation is obviouslyimportant because you all know how much can change from the first race to the last one. Enjoy the season;
I know I'm looking forward to it! Thanx to EJ GOLD for getting on my ass about this. Chris is burned out after doing this for 4 years. I'm now going to find out just how much work it is. Please bare with me this year I will do my best. Big Shout Out to Chris for establishing this league. Thank you very much Chris
